FAITH FAMILIES

These are the children and parents of families whose children range in age from infants through sixth grades. These meet on the 1st Wednesday each month. The program consists of fun activities for the children, a light dinner, and a program on Catholic teachings. This program is under the auspices of the Family Life Commission. The parents in the Faith Families group plan the monthly dinner and activities. Volunteers are always needed and attendance does not require a special invitation or reservation.

Liturgy of the Word:  Liturgy of the Word for children is scheduled during the 10:00 a.m. Sunday Mass (September-May).  The children are dismissed from Mass at the Penitential Rite to read/hear the scripture readings during the Liturgy of the Word.  Trained adults direct the program.  The children return to Mass, sometimes with art work, during the offertory procession.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd:  This program for 3 year olds through third grade is held in the atrium at St. Mary Basilica, 8:30-9:45 on Sunday mornings September-June.  This program is grounded in the scriptures and the Church's liturgy and uses Montessori principles of learning.  Contact the parish office for more information.
